Cold Mountain review.Cold Mountian.  Year: 2003.  Director: Anthony Minghella.  Rated: R for Violence and Sexulaity.  Running Time: 155 min.  Staring: Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, Renne Zellwger, Donald Sutherland, Brendan Gleeson, Phillip Seymor Hoffman, Natalie Portman, Ray Winstone, Jack White and Cillian Murphy (a bit overkill on the cast, ain't it?).   
Why is it that, most of the time, romance stories that have a backdrop of a famous war like WWII usually suck wang? Some say it's the running time, some say it's because of how predictable the story can be, some say because it's the famous words "Oscar Bait" and others say it's Cold Mountain review.

Watchmen: A review.Watchmen.  Year: 2009.  Director: Zack Snyder.  Running time: 163 min.  Staring: Malin Akerman, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup, Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffery Dean Morgan, Mathew Goode and Carla Gugino.  Rating: R for Strong Graphic Violence, Sexuality, Nudity and Language.   
(sigh) I hate having to deal with the crap that comes out in the first couple of months in moviedom. Most of it is either cheap, poorly made PG-13 horror movies made that have no amount of effort put into them or obnoxious romantic comedies with Kate Hudson. Ugh. But sometimes, we get really good stuff in the dump period (January-April) and Watchmen: A review.

Letters From Iwo Jima reviewLetters From Iwo Jima.  Year: 2006.  Director: Clint Eastwood.  Starring: Ken Watanabe.  Rated: R for Graphic war violence.  Running time: 142 min.   
Last night, I watched Letters from Iwo Jima, directed by Clint Eastwood. Now you might know him as Inspector Harry Callahan from the very, very, very, very awesome Dirty Harry series. Over the years, Eastwood has matured. From being a great actor to an awesome director, he really is one of the finest we've got.
